JK Harris puts California man's tax problems to rest
JK Harris and Company helps California man negotiate his IRS debt with an Offer in Compromise.
/South Carolina News Articles/ - NORTH CHARLESTON, SC, March 02, 2008 - Owing the IRS can cause anybody to lose sleep, especially if your debt is more than $60,000.
JK Harris and Company, LLC, helped Richard Carlson of Yucaipa, CA, sleep better at night by helping him negotiate an Offer in Compromise with the IRS for just $3,169, saving him nearly $57,000. The North Charleston-based company also helped him establish a monthly Installment Agreement with the California Franchise Board to settle his debt with the state.
"JK Harris helped me get out of very difficult and overwhelming tax situation," Carlson said of the nation's largest tax resolution firm. "My sleepless nights worrying about my taxes were dispelled when I got JK Harris on my side."
An Offer in Compromise is an agreement between the IRS and the taxpayer that allows the taxpayer's delinquent tax debt to be compromised for less than the amount owed. The offered dollar amount is based on the taxpayers net worth plus their future income potential, in other words, what the client is actually able to pay.
Ever-increasing interest and penalty charges, coupled with a decrease in income made it impossible for Carlson to pay the IRS in full. That's when he came to JK Harris.
JK Harris determined he had no disposable income after paying his monthly expenses. He did, however, have some equity in his vehicle and an insurance policy. That is where the dollar amount for the Offer came from.
"I do not know what I would have done without my Case Specialist and JK Harris and Company," Carlson said.
